prism-facetsBreast Cancer Patients with Highest HER2 Levels Benefit Most from Kadcyla

Women with metastatic breast cancer and high tumor expression of HER2 taking Kadcyla had a greater overall survival benefit than women with lower HER expression, according to new data from the EMELIA trial, which was released at the annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research.

May you live in interesting times…

foods Good news my friends!  My PTH and Calcium test results were within normal range!  Parathyroid tumor surgery is not in my future!

On the down side, my cholesterol (LDL) levels are mysteriously  elevated.  I would love to manage this with diet rather than more meds!  Wondering if the Benicar high blood pressure medication is pushing it too…. WebMD is one of the few websites that did list elevated choloesterol as a rare side-effect….  how to tell is the question.

Of course it could just be the normal aging process too, but no family history, so it is suspect…

Any thoughts?

Again, but Different?

QuestionMarks
More Surgery? Maybe……

Lab reports just came back.  My calcium level was tested for the first time and it is elevated….what does that mean?  99% of the time, it is Parathyroid tumor…translation, a tumor on the parathyroid gland which regulates calcium in the body.  Doesn’t sound like a big deal, but over a short time kidney stones, heart disease with a heart attack, GERD, and severe osteoporosis can develop.

Today, I head to the lab again to have the PHT level checked.  That result will tell me if I am set in motion on scans and surgery.

And so, once again, but different…..
